Outdoor Play, Be Safe

Updated: Oct 23, 2018

Summer time is here and with it comes the opportunity for lots of outdoor play time. Keep in mind that with the rise in temperature outside comes the rise in temperature of playground equipment.

Summer heat can raise the temperature of playground equipment and surfacing to 130 degrees or higher. That's hot enough to cause second degree burn.

When checking the playground for safety, don't forget to check the temperature of playground equipment by laying your hand on it. If the surface is too hot to touch, it may be too hot for your children to play on.

Never let children play outdoors without shoes to avoid burns to the feet. Keep the children in your care safe from burns this summer by paying close attention to the temperature of playground equipment and surfacing.
