Tennesse's Child Care Report Card Program

The quality of child care has a direct impact on a child's ability to learn, to build healthy relationships, and to become the best he or she can be. The critical decision of where to place their child is often difficult and confusing for parents.

Because the quality of child care and a positive future for the children of Tennessee depend on parents making informed choices based on current information, the Department of Human Services has developed the Tennessee Child Care Report Card System.

Under this system, every licensed child care agency in the state is annually assessed using five to seven quality indicators, depending on the type of facility. The agency must then post its report card next to the current license so that parents and visitors to the child care center or family child care home can see the resulting score.
